Aegina & Agistri cruise from Athens Pine honey, pistachios and a swim in between.

What to expect on Agistri, at the swim stop and in Aegina town on our full-day cruise from Piraeus.

Two islands and a swim, in one day from Athens

Our full-day cruise from Marina Zeas in Piraeus makes two shore visits, Agistri and Aegina. In between, there is a swim stop at Aponisos, Moni or Metopi. The crew chooses which one on the day, depending on the weather, so we can’t promise a particular islet in advance. Greek lunch and drinks are served on board.

Agistri: time by the sea

Agistri is a small, low-key island that suits a slow late morning. The waterfront around Skala has sandy and pebbly stretches, cafés and the blue-domed church of Agioi Anargyroi, the island’s best-known landmark. The coast continues towards Megalochori, and the local market is a good place to look for the island’s pine honey.

Feeling active? The optional bike tour between Megalochori and Chalikiada costs €10 per person; ask the crew on board.

The swim stop: Aponisos, Moni or Metopi

Each of the three swim stops has its own character. Moni is quiet, with pine trees down to the shore. Aponisos has a sheltered cove that is good for snorkelling. Metopi is known for its clear water. Snorkelling equipment and water noodles are included, and the crew prepares lunch while you swim. You don’t go ashore here; it is time in the water and at anchor.

Aegina: harbour town and history

Aegina’s harbour town has neoclassical buildings, small streets and seafood tavernas, and it is known for its pistachios. Pistachio ice cream is an easy treat before you sail back.

For history, the Temple of Apollo at Kolona is a short walk from the harbour. The Temple of Aphaia is farther inland and needs a taxi, so check the crew’s return time first. Monument admission and guided tours are not included.

The order of the day

The usual order is Agistri in the late morning, then the swim stop and lunch in the early afternoon, then Aegina before heading back to Marina Zeas around 19:00. You usually have about an hour and a half at each stop. The captain may change the route or order of stops, or cancel the cruise, for weather and safety. See the full schedule and what to bring.

Good questions. Clear answers.
